kiyomori
WAKE UP TIRED
(Original song by Adam Kidd additional music and arrangement Kiyomori.)

I can't take these expectations
Did I really put them on myself?
I'm insisting on isolation
That way I won't get hurt again
Ah, you can intellectualise all you like
But it don't make things right

And I fall at your feet
It's just another dream
And I will wake up tired again

It's so boring, keeps repeating
Until you don't know who you are
Keep on running the same scenarios
Through your head
But it's not right
Who did you think you'd find in her eyes?
Who did you think you'd find?

And I fall at your feet
But it's just another dream
And I will wake up tired again
And I will wake up tired
I will wake up tired
Again, again, again
Again, again, again...

Notes: Adam: This is quite an old song now and it's an (out of) love song, which makes it an unusual lyric for Kiyomori- as I've tried hard not to write about women! We felt we needed something mellower in the set without going too epic and Neville and I had been working on this for the acoustic sets.

I originally wrote it for a band I had in mind that never quite took off with my old Pornography band mates Matt Twaites and Joe Quigg. We were going to call the band Joybalous after a children's book Matt had as a kid. I made a recording with Matt when he brought his drum machine round to my house a few years ago, which isn't a million miles form the version we're playing now. Matt, his bass and his drum machine are now being put to good use in Restlesslist (restlesslist.co.uk) and I hear he's playing with the legendary Stuart Flynn as one of the Dirty Cakes.

I wrote this song with two guitars in mind, so it was good to resurrect it with Neville, especially as I can't sing and play some parts at the same time, we finally have a live version that lives up to my original vision for the song.
